Quinta dos Murças

When visiting the northern part of Portugal you must stay in a winery. Discovering this part of Portugal without doing a proper wine tasting is like visiting Algarve without going to the beach. I don't drink wine that often and I don't know a lot about wine but when in the Douro region, I always like to get to know the wine history of Portugal.

There is a place I'd really like to visit soon: Quinta dos Murças. Located on the right side of the river Douro, between Régua and Pinhão, Quinta dos Murças opens the doors of its house. It is now possible to experience the life at the Quinta, to get to know its diversity and stay in the Casa. Quinta dos Murças aims to offer you a warm, authentic and local experience.

Quinta das Murças belongs to one of the most important Portuguese wine companies Esporão. In the past 10 years, Esporão invested in the restructuring of the vineyard, in the construction of a new wine cellar and in the recovery of Casa da Quinta. One of the owners, João Roquette, says about a stay at Quinta das Murças:

I believe it is the best way to get to know the Douro and the products we produce here. It is a unique opportunity to enjoy and spend time in a Quinta do Douro.

The house of Quinta dos Murças offers 5 bedrooms and can therefore accommodate up to 10 people. In addition to enjoying the comfort of the house, gardens and swimming pool, guests are also able to participate in their daily routines, whether in the field, in the cellar or even in the kitchen. The living room, with a balcony under the Douro River, is the ideal place to relax, read or even play the piano. In the dining room you're welcome to share your experience with others and enjoy conversations at the table, where typical Douro meals are specially cooked by our home cook.

In order to offer you an authentic experience at the house of Quinta das Murças, they've put together a diverse offer of activities such as wine tastings, picnics and hiking trails. In the store, it is possible to buy Quinta dos Murças products, wine and olive oil, and also products developed in partnership with some of the artisans and artists of the region.

As you all know, I love interior design. And the Casa of Quinta das Murças promises to be a beautiful place with lots of vintage pieces but well mixed with a modern rustic interior style.
