Quinta de S. Bernardo

There are places we've been dreaming of going to for so long. One of those places is Quinta de S. Bernardo. We stayed there in July for three nights after our adventure in Azores. This is what we're dreaming of: a romantic weekend with wine tasting, reading a book/magazine at the pool, enjoying long walks nearby the Douro river, doing some yoga in the morning and enjoying dinner with a stunning sunset. And this is exactly what we've found!

At Quinta de S. Bernardo they do everything to make you feel at home. It's a very charming and tasteful decorated farmhouse with an extraordinary staff. João, the manager, seems to be there 24/7 for you. We'd like to point out two things: First, the excellent food (dinner and lunch). It was so delicious that we ate every night there. The menu changes everyday but if you don't like something of you have any allergies, they will adjust and make something special for you. Second, the amazing wine tasting experience! Mike does not appreciate wine or any alcohol as a former athlete. So, I decided to do the wine tasting by myself. In the end I had a private tasting as everyone was checking out/in that day, lucky me! I learned a lot about wine making and wine tasting, I'm almost a professional now (not really)!

At Quinta de S. Bernardo you can also take a canoe and paddle down or up the river Douro. We would paddle down (direction of Porto) it's the most beautiful spot. And if you'd like to bring back home a special gift for your family and friends or for yourself, they also have a little shop with some of my favorite Portuguese brands as Toino Abel, Claus Porto (I love the scent Voga) and homegrown and -dried tea leaves ( I love the lemongrass one).

Thank you to the amazing staff for being so kind to us. WE LOVED staying with you!

Wishing you all a great start into the week
