As you probably know, I was born in Algarve but moved to Switzerland with my parents when I was six years old. Since then, I frequently choose Portugal as my escape for warmer days. We all should know by now that Portugal has much more to offer than beautiful beaches. But what many of you probably don't know, is that you can also enjoy colder weather up at Serra da Estrela. My husband and I love hiking in the mountains and we recently came along a place that we absolutely want to stay at one day soon: Casa das Penhas Douradas.
We found these description on their website and it sounds very promising:
"At an altitude of 1500 m, everything takes on a different light. Take a deep breath of the crisp clear air of the Serra da Estrela. Feel the complete silence and tranquillity. Let your gaze be lost in the vast horizons. Feel the mountain’s presence, and let yourself be swept in by this Nature that is all around you." Casa das Penhas Douradas is the first mountain resort in Portugal and promises to be a place of great beauty and charm. We have it on our agenda for 2019 and how about you?
Wishing you all a great start into the week!
