Bolo de Mel from Alentejo

Welcome to our Portuguese Christmas! Vanda and I are very happy to share with you some Portuguese Christmas traditions during this advent. The Christmas recipes we've been sharing and will share with you are our personal favorites which we mostly know from our Portuguese families.

Our third recipe is actually not a traditional Christmas recipe but one Vanda and I always had in our family Christmases, as our fathers are both from Alentejo – "Bolo de Mel Alentejano". It's very easy to bake and the smell of this freshly baked cake will give your home a lovely smell (no one will resist to try a slice). I personally, was never into very heavy cakes with lots of cream. It's why I love the this honey cake so much.

Wishing you all a lovely Sunday and last week before Christmas Eve,

Liliana & Vanda
