Beaches of Portugal – Our Favorites!

To be honest, we love every beach in Portugal! We're lucky to have such a diversity of beaches. But of course we have some spots that we prefer or simply know best. If you love to have space and less waves, you must visit the east coast of south of Algarve. Our favorites here:

Around Olhão/Faro

Ilha Deserta

Ilha da Culatra

Ilha do Farol

Around Tavira

Praia Cabanas de Tavira

Praia da Manta Rota

Ilha Deserta

Praia Cabanas de Tavira

If you're more into cliffs and want to visit the beaches seen on all the Algarve postcards, than you'll have to travel to the west coast of south of Algarve. Be aware that it's high season in July and August. Avoid traveling that area then if you're not into big tourist crowds. We absolutely recommend September and October. It's our favorite season for Algarve – still warm, not too hot and the beaches or almost empty (specially during week days). Our favorites here are:

Around Lagoa

Praia da Marinha

Around Portimão

Praia dos 2 Irmãos

Around Lagos

Praia Dona Ana

Praia da Marinha

Praia da Marinha

And now for all the surfers! You probably know that the biggest ever ridden wave was in Nazaré, Portugal. No worries, we also have smaller waves for beginners. You'll be in surfer's paradise on the very west coast of Portugal. We specially love the Alentejo coast (natural preserve).

And here our favorites:

West Algarve

Arrifana (for Surf beginners)

Praia da Bordeira (for sand dunes lovers)

Praia de Odeceixe

Alentejo

Praia da Comporta

Praia de Tróia Galé

Praia de Melides

Praia da Samoqueira, Porto Côvo

Praia das Furnas, Vila Nova de Milfontes
