The Vintage Lisbon

It feels weird to be writing about traveling without being able to do it. Specially during this COVID-19 crisis, Mike and I feel blessed to still be healthy and to have our families and friends save and sound. But we miss traveling in Portugal so much. We'd like to keep writing about Portugal to help local businesses but also to keep our and your minds hopeful and healthy. I hope this will help you too. Let's dream now and travel later.

Traveling and design are our main passions. And we love to combine both. At The Vintage Lisbon you will experience a redefined mid-century design. You will travel to the past and be very present at the same time. For The Vintage we made an exception. Normally we tend to avoid bigger hotels but this one made us curious. I was looking for a hotel in Lisbon that would offer me relaxation but also an inspiring space to work. The Vintage caught my attention with its mix of vintage furniture and contemporary pieces. I specially felt attracted to the colour concept which I saw on pictures and that they also offered Spa treatments. Furthermore, the hotel is located nearby one of my favorite areas, Príncipe Real.

My welcome at the hotel was very warm. The receptionist took some time to show me around and I felt that it was very important to her (and the hotel, I guess) that I understood their concept and philosophy. The Vintage's interior design and flair was inspired by the drama television series Mad Men. Every room has a one-off vintage bar cart equipped with complimentary Portuguese gin, tonic and the necessary drink-making implements. How cool is that! I've never stayed at a place that offered me gin. You'll also be treated with a cheese and bread board.

The public living area is perfect to enjoy a class of wine and rest your feet after city sight seeing or to work. My highlight was a hot stone massage in their spa. The spa's colour and design concept is very beautiful. As soon as the lift opened its door and I sat down at the spa reception, I felt relaxed. The calm and warm atmosphere and the masseuse's magic hands took all my worries away. You can also book a treatment without being a hotel guest.

On the arrival day, I felt so tired that I decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant Blue with my sister. We decided to share some petiscos (Portuguese for little snacks) and they were delicious. Breakfast will also be served in the Blue Restaurant inside or outside and has everything one could wish for.

And the best way to end the day is on the rooftop bar. Enjoy a very Mad Men like drink with a fantastic view over Lisbon and let your thoughts fly away.

The Vintage combines an international vintage style with many Portuguese details. Although the hotel was only renovated about two years ago, it spreads a nostalgic atmosphere which I liked very much.

Dear readers, stay hopeful and healthy and visit my beautiful Lisbon soon.

Yours,

Liliana
