Faial

Faial was the first island we visited. We flew in from Lisboa, picked up our car at the airport and drove right away to our Glamping place called Azul Singular. Pedro and Antónia, our hosts, are very kind and well organized. They gave us a lot of tips around the island and were there anytime for questions or special needs. Azul Singular is simply spectacular! It overcame our expectations and felt like home in the jungle. The tents, which are more like wooden cabins with tent elements, are so beautiful and romantic surrounded by palm trees and the plants. I’m actually allergic to mosquitoes and when traveling this can be a bit annoying. But guess what? Not a single mosquito there! We specially enjoyed having breakfast outside with birds singing. Azul Singular a very calming and relaxing place. Every morning, they bring you breakfast in a typical basket from Azores and leave it in front of your tent. Azul Singular is perfectly located and you can easily drive to every spot on the island.

We stayed in Faial for three nights. But actually we were only two days on the island and spent one day hiking the mountain Pico. More about the hike here. Faial is a small island which you can drive through in one day. But once again, the weather can be a challenge and it’s relaxing to know that you have some spare time. In addition to that, we like to explore a place in different ways, specially by foot. And if there’s a beach, well, than we definitely want to enjoy a bit of that too. Therefore, we discovered the island by foot and by car with some beautiful breaks at natural pools and a picnic lunch by the sea. You can find all our hikes here.

We had great food and drinks here:

Restaurante Genuino (for fish and seafood lovers)

Café do Porto Pim (for a drink before dinner)

For more recommendations just ask Pedro at Azul Singular. We enjoyed some picnics and cooking in our tent too.

Overall, Faial was the perfect start into our magical vacation in Azores. We hope you enjoy our visual guide to one more unique island! We’d like to give a special OBRIGADA to Ana and Leonor from mybookpack who helped us a lot organizing one of the most amazing travels we’ve ever done! Take care, Liliana
