Sublime Comporta Beach Club

By now, you should know how much Mike and I love being by the ocean. It’s not necessarily the sunbathing that attracts us but rather the waves, the view to the wide and infinite horizon, simply the force of water. We love all the Portuguese coast from east to west Algarve, from Alentejo up to northern Portugal. But I guess that our absolute favorite place is the Costa Vicentina closely followed by the Alentejo Coast around Melides and Comporta.

Every time we’re in Comporta, we’re amazed about the turquoise water. If you love rather refreshing water (some might say cold), you will love it there too. This July, we spent another day by the Beach of Carvalhal, enjoyed the sun and waves as well as a delicious lunch the the Sublime Comporta Beach Club.

At Sublime Comporta Beach Club, you can enjoy a selection of local grilled fish, oysters and traditional Portuguese seafood recipes, such as clams à Bulhão Pato (with garlic, olive oil and coriander), sautéed Scarlet shrimp, grilled codfish, black squid rice or the mouthwatering Maine lobster rice. For those with a craving for alternate options, the restaurant also offers a selection of meat and international dishes, such as guacamole, tuna tataki, ceviche, beef tartar, amongst others.

We started with a delicious Burrata (you must try). Mike had the burger as he doesn’t eat fish. I savored a big tiger prawn with a marvelous lemon sauce. And as a desert we shared the Ricotta. Actually, I wanted to try the traditional Portuguese Farófias. I must be more convincing towards Mike next time.
